Introducing Ask a Creator Economist Podcast
And Other Updates from the Intersection of Sports & web3
A little update. Lately, I haven’t written a lot on here. Turns out, running your own startup and building a creator economy platform is taking a lot of time. Add to this family obligations and there’s just not a lot of time left.
That, though, doesn’t mean I do not still publish. It’s just that I currently focus on other channels. As those may well be of interest to at least some of you, I thought I’d give you a quick heads-up.
Ask a Creator Economist Podcast
We - as in Ron, Jonas, and I - just launched a new podcast titled Ask a Creator Economist. Subtitle: The Micro and Macro of Attention. The title says it all: we take questions from creators, content professionals, and anyone interested in today’s creator economy, and answer them on the show.
In the first episodes, we for instance talked about branding, the future of creator/social tokens, growing an audience, whether or not blogging is dead, the timing of going paid, how not to use NFTs, and being pigeonholed by your audience.
If you want to subscribe, you can do so either on YouTube if you prefer the video version or on all the podcast platforms by going here. I also embedded the first episodes below for your convenience.
If you have a question you want us to answer, come and ask your question here.
Stuff I’ve written
Besides the new podcast, I also wrote two pieces in the realm of web3 and digital transformation in sports which might be of interest to you.
Forget NFTs, use Web3 the Right Way
Over on SportsPro, I wrote a little opinion piece. In there, I explain why I’m very happy that the pretty insubstantial NFT hype is over — and how web3 can be used to actually give fans what they want.
You can read the piece here.
Transforming Sports for the Digital Entertainment Age (White Paper)
I wrote a white paper in which I looked into what sports organizations need to do in order to connect with the digital-native generations and how, to that end, they can create enticing digital products.
I played around with publishing something via Notion, so you can find the white paper over here.
So much for an update. Looking forward to hearing from you!
Cheers,
Thomas
